Neurodivergent Learning:

Supporting Diverse Learning Needs in the Workplace

As Learning and Development professionals, we know that the most impactful learning environments are built on empathy, inclusion, and intention. In this energizing and deeply personal session, leadership speaker Nick DeStefano—better known as “Awesome Nick D”—challenges L&D teams to expand their definition of leadership and learning by centering neurodiversity and kindness.

Rooted in the lived experiences of raising his autistic and awesome son, Calvin (CAL), Nick brings a fresh perspective to how we train, develop, and empower leaders. You’ll explore how kindness is more than a buzzword—it’s a leadership skillset that includes listening, coaching, and embracing difference. Through stories, strategies, and a few laughs, you’ll gain tools to design and deliver programs that are more inclusive, emotionally intelligent, and psychologically safe.

This session is perfect for L&D professionals ready to reimagine leadership development through a more human lens—one that not only honors neurodiversity but actively celebrates it. Because when we create spaces where everyone can learn and lead as their authentic selves, we don’t just make learning effective—we make it AuSome.

Nick DeStefano, known by many as “Awesome Nick D,” is an energetic leadership speaker on a mission to create a world with 1 million kind leaders. He helps new and emerging managers lead with confidence, compassion, and authenticity—redefining leadership through kindness, connection, and coaching.

With over a decade of experience in training and development, Nick began his career in student leadership at Coastal Carolina University and later launched Chasing the Awesome Life, his speaking business inspired by his son Calvin, who is autistic and awesome. Calvin’s journey has shaped Nick’s belief that kindness is the most powerful leadership skill—and it starts with understanding yourself.

As a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, Nick brings high energy, real stories, and practical tools to every audience. Whether he's speaking, coaching, or cheering on his son’s baseball team, Nick shows up with authenticity, heart, and a relentless passion for developing kind, capable leaders.
