Volunteering with ATD Greater Atlanta provides talent development professionals with a hands-on environment to expand their networks, pilot new skills, and give back. We don't just need "help"—we want to provide a platform to flex your superpowers. Whether you have one or two hours a month or a desire to step into executive leadership, there is a path designed for you.
Ways you can volunteer.
To help you find your perfect fit, our volunteer ecosystem is divided into two distinct lanes.
Choose the lane below that matches your current professional goals and availability:
Lane 1: Chapter Operations
Best for: Members looking to expand their professional network, practice leadership roles, or sharpen specific operational and L&D skill sets in a supportive environment.
In this lane, you pull back the curtain on how a professional association runs. You can contribute to the internal engine of ATD Greater Atlanta through formal roles or ad-hoc tasks as your schedule allows:
Executive Board Leadership: Set the strategic direction for the chapter, manage cross-functional teams, and gain invaluable non-profit governance experience.
Committee Involvement: Join a specialized team (such as Programming, Marketing, Membership, Community Relations, or Technology) to execute ongoing initiatives.
"On-Demand" & One-Off Opportunities: Don't have time for a steady commitment? Assist with one-time needs like staffing a registration desk at the annual ACE Conference, helping with a technology migration, as the needs arise.
Professional Benefits: Direct networking with industry leaders, safe-to-fail environment to practice management skills, and resume-building credentials.
Lane 2: Community Engagement & Outreach
Best for: Members who want to use their talent development expertise to uplift local non-profits, give back to the Greater Atlanta area, and perhaps even gain real-world portfolio pieces.
In this lane, we take our hearts and our collective expertise out into the community. We partner with local non-profit organizations to help them scale their missions while providing you with unique opportunities to connect, create, or facilitate.
Here are a few current ongoing community initiatives:
The Mission: Providing education and support for children and families previously or currently experiencing homelessness.
How You Can Volunteer: We develop and deliver instructor-led training and life-skills workshops for parents. You can jump in across three distinct roles: Instructional Designer (developing/polishing curriculum), Facilitator (delivering workshops), or Project Manager/Coordinator (overseeing logistics).
The Mission: Driving digital inclusion by ensuring youth and families have the technology and skills needed to thrive.
How You Can Volunteer: Join us for a partnership event to provide support during workshops or inventory management. Work as an Instructional Designer to refresh and standardize content and curriculum aimed at building essential digital skillsets for low-income individuals.
The Mission: Helping local shelters care for and adopt out pets in need.
How You Can Volunteer: Join fellow ATD members at the shelter to walk dogs, give them (and you!) much-needed socialization, and network with peers in a fun, relaxed environment.
The Mission: Preparing and delivering medically tailored meals and providing nutrition education to empower individuals living with critical, chronic, or terminal illnesses.
How You Can Volunteer: Join ATD members for a hands-on meal-packing shift to support their daily meal distribution, or engage in skills-based volunteering such as leading professional development workshops and offering instructional design support for their Workforce Development culinary students.
