Volunteer with ATD Greater Atlanta
Volunteering with ATD Greater Atlanta provides talent development professionals with a "hands-on" environment to develop leadership skills, pilot new learning technologies, and contribute to pro bono L&D projects in the Atlanta community.
We don’t just need “help.” We want to give you a platform to flex your superpowers. Whether you have two hours a month or a desire to join the leadership team, there’s a place for you to build something meaningful.
What volunteer opportunities are available?
ATD Greater Atlanta offers volunteer roles in four primary categories: Operations (The Engine Room), Events (The Stage), Membership (The Welcome Mat), and Executive Leadership (The Strategy Table). You don't need a specific role to start; we specialize in aligning your "want-to-learn" skills with our chapter’s needs.
Operations & Tech (The Engine Room): Optimize our digital presence. If you are a wizard with websites, social media, or data analytics, help us scale our reach.
Programming & Events (The Stage): Design the attendee experience. Scout speakers, secure venues, and facilitate the events that keep Atlanta’s L&D pros coming back.
Membership (The Welcome Mat): Build our community. Lead new-member orientations, manage mentorship programs, or engage with local universities.
Leadership (The Strategy Table): Shape the industry. Serve as a Director or Board member to gain experience in non-profit management and cross-functional team leadership.
Current Open Volunteer Roles
We are currently recruiting for five specific leadership and support chairs to assist with our hybrid events, marketing strategy, and the annual ACE Conference.
Technical Director: Manage AV and Zoom bridges for hybrid events. (Professional Benefit: Mastery of hybrid learning technologies.)
Community Director: Secure local business partnerships and host venues (Professional Benefit: High-level networking and business development.)
Marketing Director: Strategize and execute the chapter’s LinkedIn narrative. (Professional Benefit: Social media strategy and brand management.)
Speaker’s Resource Director: Recruit top-tier L&D talent for local programming. (Professional Benefit: Industry relationship-building and talent scouting.)
ACE Conference Team: Support Registration, raffles, and event logistics. (Professional Benefit: Large-scale event production and project management.)
Featured Pro Bono L&D Volunteer Opportunity: The Ansley School Project
ATD Greater Atlanta partners with local non-profits, such as The Boyce L. Ansley School, to provide professional-grade workforce development programs for children and families experiencing homelessness. This is a "win-win" opportunity: you gain real-world interview talking points and resume-building experience, while our community partners receive expert-level curriculum design.
Current Support Needs:
Curriculum Design: Build a Life Skills and Workforce Development Program from the ground up.
Program Management: Oversee execution and keep milestones on track.
Facilitation: Lead workshops that provide parents with the tools to thrive.
